First Impressions – Rolling up to Twist SF for the first time? Brace yourself—because right next door is a bumpin’ nightclub with a line of dudes stretching down the block. Rookie mistake alert: a ton of first-timers accidentally queue up there, only to realize—whoops!—wrong party. Embarrassing! Twist SF? No line. Ever. Just look for the totally unmarked door to the right. You’ll be clutching your bottle of wine or liquor (yep, it’s BYOB), heart pounding, asking yourself, Are we really doing this? You swear everyone’s watching (they’re not – or maybe they are!), take a deep breath, and ring the little doorbell. A quick buzz, and suddenly, you’re stepping into a narrow staircase drenched in sultry red light, music pulsing just ahead. No turning back now!
Entry / Coat Check – Once inside, you’re greeted by the host—always dapper in a sparkly tux jacket and serving pure hospitality realness. He checks your ID, takes your nightly fee (a bit on the steep side, as is everything in California), and hands you a stretchy wristband with a coat check number—because, yes, you’re about to get comfy. Next stop? The tiny bar, where you hand over your bottle to the bartender, who scribbles down your number and hands you a drink to get the night rolling. Smooth, seamless, and suddenly, you’re officially inside San Francisco’s only swinger club.
Inside Tour – Time for a little tour. Twist SF is cozy—think more intimate lounge than sprawling sex palace. The vibe? Moody red and purple neon lights giving it that sultry, almost vanilla nightclub feel. There are 2 main seating areas. The bar area has a handful of bar-top tables, some low couches, and a small playroom off to the side, dominated by a massive circular bed. The main dance area is compact but designed for movement—whether that’s dancing, lounging, or just sizing up the room. The smallish dance floor sits in the center, with a DJ spinning tunes that range from clubby beats to why-is-this-playing-right-now moments. Surrounding the dance floor are low couches, benches, and seating cubes, where couples perch, sip their drinks, and trade flirty glances while pretending they’re not totally scoping the scene.
DJ/Bar – The bar at Twist SF is tiny—like, “don’t expect to lean in and chat up the bartender” tiny (Um, yea we might have done that. Kat!!) With 1, maybe 2 bartenders managing the BYOB situation, things can back up fast, with the line sometimes stretching into the first lounge area. Just don’t expect generous pours – even though it’s your own booze, the bartenders keep it responsibly light. Along the side of the bar, there’s a small spread of snacks, fruit, and chocolates—nothing too fancy.
On busy nights, the space hums with energy—every seat is taken, couples are moving in and out of the 2 front rooms, and eventually, the dance floor becomes too tempting to resist. But on slower nights? The vibe is different. No one dares break the silence of an empty dance floor, and instead, everyone just lingers, sipping their drinks, stealing glances, and waiting for someone—anyone—to make the first move.
“Stripping down levels the playing field fast—and cranks up the heat. You know it’s about to go down!“
Locker Room/Dress Code – Slip past the beaded curtain, and you’ll find yourself in what used to be a sad little hallway with a handful of lockers—but not anymore. Twist recently upgraded to a proper locker room, now stocked with around 90 lockers for stashing your stuff. Inside each? Two towels—one for wrapping yourself up or, let’s be real, as a squirt mat (Kat!!). Off this hallway, you’ll also find the first set of bathrooms, a crucial stop before diving into the action.
At the end of the hall, a bouncer perches on a stool, overseeing the final checkpoint. This is where you strip down to lingerie, boxers, towels, or nothing at all. No full clothes past this point—it’s time to embrace the moment. Compulsory undressing is actually a clever way to level the playing field and turns up the heat in an immediate way. ‘Cause you know, It’s about to go down!

Playrooms– Step past the bouncer, and welcome to the playrooms—where the real fun begins. No raised beds here—just two massive play areas lined with soft vinyl mats (no sheets!) on the floors and padded benches, making every inch fair game. More bathrooms and a newly remodeled shower round out the playroom area in the back.
To the left is the couples-only zone, square-shaped with a long couch for additional playing along one side. Secret tip? There’s a hidden alcove with a private bed for tucked-away fun. To the right is the singles-and-couples area (couples-only on Saturdays), a longer, narrower space with a serpentine bench for extra play fun.
On busy nights, it’s a free-flowing, erotic playground. Couples find an open spot, lay down their towels, and get to it. For first-timers, it’s pure sensory overload—bodies moving, moans filling the air, the heat of strangers all around you. Many start out simply enjoying the thrill of public play, some may reach out for a little parallel touching (consent is key in San Francisco!), and if full swaps are happening, those couples have likely already mingled earlier on the dance floor.
“Playroom to the right—Fridays welcome single males, so swipe accordingly. Saturdays? Couples only.“
Yoga – Want a no-pressure way to ease into Twist? Wednesday night couples-only yoga is the perfect intro—$60 per couple for a sensual, low-stakes experience. Dim red lighting, soft music, and a mix of couples from mid-20s to 50s set the scene. If you want to be social, sit on the left—more conversation happens there. The right side? Quieter, more introspective. Either way, everyone looked sexy in their own way.
Best to arrive in yoga clothes, but they won’t stay on long. Most guys ended up in boxers or briefs, while women wore yoga gear, lingerie, or nothing at all (shoutout to the lingerie queens—y’all set the mood). The class? “Yoga without the hard parts”—solo poses, then couple-based movements that ease into intimacy. Nothing too explicit, but plenty of heat.
Once yoga wraps, Brett gives the green light, and the room transforms to play. Moans filled the air as most couples stayed to play, and mostly kept to themselves. Whether you’re just stretching or ready for more, this is a sexy, relaxed way to dip into the scene.
Vibe Check – Twist SF is all about timing and vibe. Never show up before 11pm unless you want to sip your drink alone, and don’t expect much action in the playrooms before midnight—the real magic hour. Saturdays are the nights to be here—packed, couples-only, and buzzing with energy. Fridays? A handful of respectful single guys (who’ve never quite caught our eye) and a slower pace overall. Busier is always better.
The crowd skews older, mostly 40+, with a sprinkle of 20s and 30s (younger and more attractive on Bronze Party event nights!), but it’s as diverse as the Bay Area itself. Every body type, every background—it’s all here, wrapped in a judgment-free, respectful, and welcoming atmosphere. And if there’s one thing that truly stands out? Consent is key. Never before have we been to a club where verbal consent is this routinely practiced. No assumptions, no gray areas—just a culture of clear communication that makes exploring feel safe, sexy, and seamless. Perfect for first-timers
Would we go back? – Well, duh—it’s our local club, so that’s a yes. It’s not as social as we’d like (nothing beats the Scarlet Ranch in Denver for that), and we’ve mostly outgrown its newbie-centric vibe. But let’s be real—it’s still a sexy spot for a sultry night out (albeit a bit steeply priced imho), and you never know when you’ll get lucky.
