By: Kat Swings

If you’re looking for a quick and steamy detour just minutes from Rome’s city center, Bad Romance Swinger Club might catch your eye—but don’t let its proximity fool you. This teeny, tiny hole-in-the-wall spot caters to couples and singles, but after giving it two chances, we’re ready to swipe left. Rome has better options, people! (Check out our Flirt Club Review and Swingers 69 Review) Once a club shows you who they are, believe them the first time. That said, even the worst clubs can surprise you—in our case, with the BEST MFM threesome that basically fell into our lap (cue Italian Edward Cullen vibes). The Lifestyle is nothing if not unpredictable! Join Kat & Leo as they continue on their summer swinging through Europe as they share a no-holds-barred review of Rome’s Bad Romance swinger club in their latest episode of the Vanilla Swingers podcast.

Bad Romance Rome swinger club bar area

First Impressions – Let’s just say the vibe had us cautiously optimistic. You walk into a small foyer where you’re greeted by a guy who speaks only Italian—cue my broken attempts at communication. Once you manage that, you’re led into a tiny room with a mini bar (self-serve, because who needs bartenders, right?). Two tables with barstool seats are your only options to perch on. There’s a round black bed in the corner. But the decor? Oh, the decor had us thinking this place might just deliver! Think stone walls, sultry red lighting, and archways that scream “sexy secrets lie beyond.” Gothic to the extreme. And the communication was on point! Super responsive by Whatsapp and email. Too bad it’s just so damn tiny!

“With its black-and-red decor, stone walls, and sultry red lighting, the place oozes gothic glam and sheer sexiness—too bad it’s so tiny.“

Inside Tour – So, let’s break down Bad Romance for you. You enter through a small foyer where you pay at the front desk. To your right, you’ve got the bar seating area, and beyond that—if you can even call them that—are the playrooms. Or should I say, “room and a half.” There is a medium sized group play room with a handful of beds, and a tiny broom closet nook with a door to close for privacy. No lockers, no phone restrictions, which was a refreshing trust vibe we happily took advantage of (shoutout to Leo for helping us number-close Edward within the first 5 minutes!). Now, here’s where it gets interesting. At the end of the playroom hallway, there’s a suit of armor. Naturally, I thought it was guarding a secret trove of playrooms, but no. Turns out it’s just a dead end. 20 seconds and you’ve seen everything. When Edward asked in Italian if there were private rooms, we thought we’d missed something major— nope, just the broom closet room with the open window that offers the slightest hint of privacy.

Playrooms – Ah, the playrooms at Bad Romance—where dreams (or should we say, fantasies) go to get cozy. Up a half flight of stairs, you’ll find the group room, which on our Saturday visit was packed with 3-4 couples. That’s right, a full house here means a whopping 5 singles and 5 couples—so basically, it’s more of a “cozy” gathering spot than a raging party. Beyond that, there’s a hallway leading to what can only be described as a glorified broom closet. With a door you can close (but a window for all the lookie-loos to peep through), this tiny space comes equipped with a bench across the back. It’s where we took Edward for an unforgettable MFM session. With the three of us crammed in, it was hotter than a grease fire—two seriously handsome, fit guys zeroing in on Kat. Wowzers, indeed!

Bar  – Picture a mini wet bar plopped into someone’s living room and you’ve got the gist. But did I mention that it’s FREE? There’s a bottle of wine and some champagne chilling in buckets of ice, alongside a selection of liquors for your self-serve pleasure. A bit house party ghetto. Seating? Nope, not a chair in sight. Did I mention how teeny it is? It was here that Leo made his suave entrance to top off our champagne, while Edward, in his sultriest Italian accent, asked, “Would you like an ice cube?” And thus, the night’s adventures began. The room also houses exactly 2 tables for mingling, so you might fit about 4 couples max in here—if everyone’s feeling cozy!

DJ – Umm… who? Yeah, there isn’t one. I don’t even remember there being music, though there probably was some background tunes playing. But honestly, who could focus on that when Leo was over here practically gift-wrapping Italian Edward for me? Not his real name, obviously, but oh, if you could hear his actual, oh-so-sexy Italian name rolling off my tongue… Yeow! Let’s just say the music (or lack thereof) was the least of my concerns!

“Wait, did I just greenlight a threesome with a 22-year-old vampire lookalike? Have I lost it? …Eh, too late now!“

Staff –Well, if you’re looking for a full team, think again. There was exactly one person at the front desk, and that was about it. He might’ve breezed through the bar area once, but otherwise, he was like a ghost—just there to check you in and then poof, vanished. Honestly, it was kind of refreshing! No looming bouncers or intense security vibes like at some other clubs. The whole thing felt more laid-back, which was a nice change of pace.

Vibe Check – The vibe at Bad Romance is definitely a “come as you are” situation—no dress code here! While Italians generally dress well (hello, Edward in his sleek long sleeve shirt and black trousers), we showed up dressed to the nines in heels and clubwear. And guess what? We didn’t feel out of place at all. The ambiance is sultry, like stepping into a gothic room in a castle—just a room though, not the whole castle.

Guest List – The club allows singles all the time, so during both visits, there were a handful of single guys around, most of them older. We hit the jackpot with 22-year-old Edward (super lucky, since we totally stole him from the only other couple there on Thursday). As for the couples, most were uninspired and not so great but it’s always the luck of the draw. Not sure if the crowd skewed Italian… Edward was Italian, but honestly, we didn’t chat with anyone else, so who knows if the crowd was mostly Italian or not. On a non-Edward Saturday, we walked into the group playroom and, surprise, they were told by front desk guy where we were from! They even broke into “California Dreaming'” in unison (in English, no less). Italians? Maybe. But honestly, your guess is as good as ours!

Cleanliness – No complaints on cleanliness—this place was spotless! The decor was on point, too. The only problem? It needs to be about 3-5 times bigger to really be worth a visit. Honestly, it’d make a perfect spot to rent out for you and your favorite 4 couples for an epic moresome orgy!

Would we go back? – We gave Bad Romance two tries, and to be honest, we probably wouldn’t go back. Swingers 69 in Rome’s city center blew it out of the water, and Flirt Club in Lake Bracciano left both in the dust. There’s just no room in our lineup for such a tiny hole-in-the-wall spot. They’re trying hard—the management and staff were nice—but it’s just small. Does that mean we’d miss out on another possible Edward MFM? Yes! But hey, give it a try yourself.  Sometimes even a not-so-great club can surprise you with an amazing play experience! (OK heck, with it open 7 days a week, even we might go back to look for that elusive MFM! Sluttons!! LOL!!!)

***PRO TIP  – If you’re a slutton like us, Bad Romance is open 7 days a week, so if you can squeeze it in between Swingers 69 and Flirt Club, why not give it a shot? The drinks are free, and who knows—you might just stumble upon your own 22-year-old threesome. Thank you Leo!
