Welcome to SwingerForYou, a so-called swinger bar in the heart of Budapest that’s anything but what it promises. Despite its website’s claims that undressing is optional, don’t be fooled; upon arrival, you’ll find yourself pressured into stripping down immediately. Classic bait and switch! The venue is a cramped, pub-style space where a clique of mafia-style staff members lounge around fully dressed while female patrons are left in towels or less, catering to the whims of the predominantly single male clientele. If you’re looking for an experience that lives up to its promises, you might want to think twice before stepping through these doors. According to the website, closing time is nebulous which is really just a fancy way of saying they’ll shut down whenever they feel like it.
“Closing time is just when everyone is getting tired and getting ready to leave… It is true for this, and for every day, that we never close as long as life with capital letters is going on, but sloshing at the counter and dozing off guests no longer belong in this category…”

First Impressions – Located in an industrial area just outside Budapest’s city center, SwingerForYou is a bit of a challenge to find. After being dropped off, we wandered a bit too far in our evening attire before finally spotting the place (although the red pillars should have been a dead giveaway!). The entrance, marked by four red pillars with an Asian-inspired design, requires you to ring a bell and wait. When the door opens, it’s greeted by a Sopranos-looking guy in a newsboy cap who seems straight out of The Sopranos. He motions us to ascend a flight of stairs, setting the tone for a decidedly unsettled start to the evening.
“Total bait and switch. Website clearly states ‘you don’t HAVE to undress.’ Total bull$h*t. We cry foul!“
Inside Tour – Once inside, we were met by a friendly young English-speaking gentleman (maybe the owner?), someone we’d previously spoken with on the phone. After paying the modest entrance fee, which included one drink each, he gave us a tour of the venue. The bar itself was quite small, with seating for maybe five people at the bar and a few more in intimate seating areas. Through the back doors, a narrow hallway led to a small playroom space featuring a jacuzzi, two lockable rooms, and one room with curtains and a viewing area. The overall space was cramped and left much to be desired in terms of comfort and privacy.
The locker area, crammed in just past the janitor’s closet complete with a mop bucket and mop, was a total letdown. With space barely fitting 10-12 lockers, it was clear that practicality and guest comfort were not exactly priorities here.
Bait & Switch – After paying the entrance fee and getting the tour, we headed back to the bar area, only to be hit with a surprise: we had to undress right away. Apparently, since everyone else was already in various states of undress, it wasn’t “fair to them”—a.k.a. a group of towel-clad leering single men. Talk about a bait-and-switch! The website had assured us:
“We decided that you don’t HAVE to undress. If someone decides to sit at the bar in clothes or look around, well… So be it…”
Yeah, well, that’s not how it played out. Instead, we were left feeling like duped fools who were expected to conform to their “unwritten rules,” despite their earlier promises. We chose to push back, and Kat wore her towel over our lingerie (HA!), not allowing any single men the privilege of ogling her. Though we should have just left!
Bar – The bar has a real Sopranos vibe. There’s one bartendress serving up your free drink, and after that, it’s a modest $7 per drink. We overheard the owner proudly proclaiming he doesn’t want to “gouge” people on drink prices, but his website preaches about not overindulging. As if that wasn’t enough, you’ll be rubbing elbows with at least 3-4 fully clothed employees who seem to be there just to leech off the atmosphere.
Playrooms – Venturing into the playrooms is an experience best described as underwhelming. You’ll find a tiny 6 person jacuzzi that was swarming with single guys—so unless you’re keen on knee-bumping with them, steer clear. The play area is a narrow hallway leading to a few uninspired rooms. There’s one room with a beaded curtain and a viewing platform for exhibitionist antics, where we caught a woman, clearly an escort, putting on a show with her man.
The rest? Just a couple of drab, bedroom-sized rooms with a bed and doors you can close or lock for privacy. That’s it. Small, cramped, and with single guys lurking around, the space felt claustrophobic and decidedly unexciting.
Vibe Check – The place felt more like a sex club with a bar slapped on top of it. The overwhelming presence of single guys—about 10-12 of them for just 3-4 couples—made it clear this was no ordinary swinger venue. And these weren’t your run-of-the-mill singles; they were leering, following, and just plain oddball. The whole vibe was tainted by the bait-and-switch tactics regarding undressing. The website promised one thing, but the reality was a different story, clearly set up to cater to the single guys’ desires. It was no surprise when a stylish Greek couple left in a huff, likely disgusted by the undressing switcheroo.
Cleanliness – The owner clearly put effort into making SwingerForYou a polished, clean, and well-decorated venue with a lot of potential. The place felt very clean throughout, adding to its initially promising appeal.
Would we go back? – Absolutely not. This is a hard pass for us. In our opinion, there’s only one viable option for couples in Budapest, and that’s Tiktak Swinger Club.
***PRO TIP FOR THE OWNER – Don’t promise one thing on your website and pull the rug out on your customers. We felt like bait on a hook for the single males. As the couple, we were essentially the main attraction, but instead of catering to our comfort, the focus seemed to be on making us undress for the benefit of the single guys. If you’re going to center the experience around the couples, you might want to actually consider their needs rather than just using them to entertain the singles.
